Matte is designed so your photos never leave your device. This policy applies to Matte on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

What we collect

Nothing. Matte has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The app does not make network requests, and no information about you or your photos is sent to us or to anyone else.

Your photos

  • Photos you add are processed entirely on your device.
  • On iPhone and iPad, photos you pick are copied into the app’s own temporary storage so they can be framed. That copy is deleted the next time you open Matte, and the system may clear it sooner.
  • On Mac, photos are read from wherever you choose them. Exports are written only to the folder you pick.
  • Your original photos are never changed.

Photos library access

On iPhone and iPad, Matte asks for add-only access to your Photos library, and only when you tap Save to Photos. It uses that access solely to save your framed photos. Matte cannot read or browse your library; photos you add are chosen through the system photo picker.

Location data

Photos often contain the location where they were taken. By default Matte removes location data from the photos it exports. You can turn this off with the Remove Location setting (in the Export sheet on iPhone and iPad, or the sidebar on Mac).

Data stored on your device

Matte remembers your settings (such as ratio, border, and color) so they’re the same next time. On Mac it also remembers the last export folder you chose. This stays on your device and is removed if you delete the app.

Children

Matte does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
